New York based Toby Kelly returns to Piston Recordings with another trio of sublime deep house grooves in the form of Greg’s Groove EP. This one follows his late 2018 debut, Butter EP, and is another fine example of this guy’s talent. A mysterious character who never fails to deliver, great to have him back once again.
Greg’s Groove dishes out a solid deep house mover thanks to nice chunky beats and a bouncing bassline that dances through the track effortlessly. Cool chord stabs add texture to the sound as vocal shots give off a club vibe. Short, sharp 303 licks tease as an energetic percussion section sets the rhythm loose. Great stuff here that will be a welcome addition in any crate.
My Man is a smooth and sensual slice of deep house with a pacey rhythm to get the juices flowing on the floors. A punchy kick drum leads the way alongside subtle hats and crispy claps. A groovy bassline dominates as it weaves through track to the backdrop of warm chord pads and a sultry vocal. The perfect fodder for the late-night session that will not disappoint.
Turn On intros with a nice, upbeat clubby vibe complete with punchy kicks and bright percussions. Cool vocal FX add character as a more tribal infused percussive element comes through. A sub level, floor shuddering bassline takes over the groove forcing that ass to shake. Softer, more subtle musical elements build up the groove making this an absolute must have to get the party rocking.
