DJ and producer Marcelo De Almeida is back at Piston Recordings with his latest effort titled Festivos Brutos EP. Following his last outing, Outono EP, Marcelo brings his A-game as expected, taking us on another deep house fuelled ride. Marcelo spent his childhood in Canada listening to Hip Hop, he later moved to Portugal where he discovered a whole new world of music in the underground house music scene. After mastering the art mixing, he turned his hand at music production and began to delve into deep and tech house. He is the label manager at Raw Level Records and over the years he has dished out a plethora of top-notch grooves across several quality labels. We’re always excited when his latest works comes through the office and we’ve no doubt we’ll be seeing more from him in the future.

Festivos Brutos is an upbeat affair filled with tight beats and a nicely flowing rhythm. Spacey FX swirl through the groove as a driving, dancey bassline locks us in, getting the booty’s shakin on the floors. Strangely eerie synths create a surreal atmosphere fulfilling that cosmic vibe as the deeper elements keep the groove moving. Solid stuff that will not disappoint.

O Bounce Do Freak offers up a full-on, heads down, groove on slice that will most definitely work the floors into a frenzy. Nice chunky kicks and slicing hi hats join a tight percussion arrangement, delivering a steady rhythm. A bouncing bassline cascades through the groove, dishing out a warm low-end vibe. Classic chords line up with hypnotic intent while a loungey atmosphere resides in the distance. A beautiful deep house track that is not to be missed.

Sem Gluten is very much a drum focused slice that will be a welcome addition to any crate. The foundation of the track is laid down with solid thumpy kicks alongside shuffling hats and rhythmic percussions. A constant pad mesmerizes as smooth synth notes offer a musical element in the groove. Wonderfully minimal and hugely impactful, a must have no doubt.
