Maxim Lebedev aka Ukraine based DJ and producer Lebedev (RU) debuts on Piston Recordings with the delicious deep house grooves of his Paris Nights EP. Maxim grew up listening to electronic music, it was Daft Punk’s sound that really got him hooked. He started to work on his own tracks at just 16 years of age and he quickly found that house music was where he wanted to be. He has gone on to release top quality cuts on various labels including Henry Street Music, Nurvous, Blockhead, Grin Trax and more. Recently, his track Minority was played on Danny Howard’s BBC Radio 1 show. Maxim has also been running his own label, Red Factory Records, since 2015, specializing in house music and its funky sub-genres. Great to have him on board and we hope to see more soon.

The Original Mix of Paris Night intros with a vintage vinyl crackle as the filters open to reveal a smooth deep house groove made up of well-rounded kicks, crispy hats and a deep probing bass. Chord pads deliver a funky vibe before the track settles in for the ride to its groovy destination. The perfect Summer groove for the terraces that will not disappoint.

Now And Again is a superb slice of deep house goodness wrapped up in a tight arrangement that gets the body moving to the infectious groove. Nice chunky kick drums and shuffling percussions light up the rhythm while funky chords are joined by cool vocal shots. The bassline is truly the big hitter here, prepare to be forcibly delivered to the floor with this one, not to be missed.

French DJ and producer JR From Dallas returns to Piston after a bit of a hiatus on remix duties for Paris Nights. JR continues to dish out quality deep house, tech house and house joints as well as performing at many top venues across Europe. Here, he wastes no time in getting right down to business with an organic fuelled deep house cut which carries a trippy vibe throughout. Cool vocals and spacey FX slice through the deep, penetrating basses that dominate the track while an interesting drum section ties the groove together. Top-notch as ever, a must have.

Portuguese DJ and producer Ricardo Cardoso aka Ritz is back at Piston on the remix for Paris Nights. His last effort here, Bronx 476.9625 EP was well received as always. In 2016 he changed his stage name to Ritz from M0u53, and since then he has worked with many national and international publishers. He rarely does DJ sets and when he does, it is on special occasions using only his own music. On the remix here, we’re treated to a perfectly poised deep house construction that will most definitely keep the floors busy. A truly sublime atmosphere is the result of mesmerizing pads, soft melodies and spoken word. Punchy kicks and wide-open hats dish out a nice rhythm along with a probing bassline that dances through the groove. Great stuff once again.
